Refrigerator Repair in Denver

Built-in and undercounter Viking refrigeration: cooling loss, frost build-up, ice and water faults, door and seal work.

What people say on the phone

  • Fridge side creeping into the fifties while the freezer stays solid
  • Frost sheeting across the freezer floor or back wall
  • Ice maker down to a trickle or stopped altogether
  • Compressor running flat out and warming the room around it

What it usually turns out to be

Three faults cover most of these calls

Fridge warm, freezer fine

On a built-in this pattern is about air, not refrigerant, four times out of five: the evaporator fan has stopped, a defrost fault has iced the coil so nothing can move through it, or the damper between compartments is stuck shut. Refrigerant is diagnosed last, under gauges, because it is the dearest answer and the least likely one.

Frost sheeting the freezer

Frost that builds on the floor or back wall is a defrost circuit problem or a door that is not sealing. The defrost side means a heater, a bimetal or a control that has stopped calling for it; the door side means a gasket gone hard in dry winter air, or a cabinet that has drifted out of level so the door no longer meets the frame square.

Ice down to a trickle

Scale off local water furs up a fill valve and reduces the fill, so cubes come out hollow and small before they stop altogether. The valve, the filter and the line back to the shutoff all get checked and flushed. The ice module itself is the last suspect, not the first — replacing it while the fill is short buys the same thin ice.

Worth checking before you book

  • Put a thermometer in a glass of water in the fresh-food compartment overnight rather than trusting the display.
  • Is the condenser at the base clear, and did anybody leave the shroud off after earlier work?
  • Can you hear the evaporator fan settle when the door is closed on the switch?
  • Does the door pull itself shut and seal all the way round, or does a corner stand off?

What it costs

What these repairs run, band by band

A $89 call-out buys the diagnosis end to end, and that $89 is knocked off the repair the moment you approve one.

Each line is a band, not one figure: the part your serial calls for, and how much has to come apart to reach it, decide where inside it your job lands. You get one firm number from inside that band before a panel comes off.

Igniter or burner assembly
$170–$470
Oven thermostat or heating element
$210–$420
Refrigeration fan or defrost system
$270–$650
Dishwasher pump or control
$210–$370
Control board or touch panel
$420–$610
Compressor or sealed-system repair
$1,370–$3,240

Parts and labour, priced to your own serial. For scale, set the dearest line against $6,560–$16,180 — a comparable Viking replacement, before installation.

In their words

Refrigerator calls, in the owners’ words

  • Twelfth floor. The column kept announcing an open door that was plainly shut. A tired switch in the frame, and he had one on the van. Quiet since.

  • Our wine unit had started freezing bottles on the lowest rack. The sensor had dropped out of its bracket and was reading the wrong air. Remounted and recalibrated.

    Malcolm V.BelcaroJun 2026

  • Ice stopped and the dispenser went down to a dribble. The fill valve had furred up solid with scale off our water. New valve, new filter, and he flushed the line through before leaving.
